St. Petersburg has become the most alarming region in Russia by the end of 2025. This was reported on December 26 by the newspaper Vedomosti with reference to the KROS study "National Anxiety Index of Russians."
"In 2025, for the first time since 2019, Moscow ceased to be the most alarming region (the total anxiety index decreased by 20%), losing the championship to St. Petersburg (the index tripled), which in 2024 did not even enter the top three most alarming regions of the Russian Federation," the publication says.
