Zelensky spoke about plans to discuss security guarantees with Trump
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he plans to discuss security guarantees and reconstruction of the country with American leader Donald Trump.
The Ukrainian leader noted that the 20-point peace plan was 90% agreed upon, and also confirmed that he would meet with Trump on Sunday, December 28.
On the same day, the Kyiv Post newspaper wrote that Zelensky could travel to the United States for talks with Trump in the near future. On December 25, Zelensky held telephone talks with the special representative of the President of the United States, Stephen Witkoff, and businessman Jared Kushner. According to him, the talks discussed "important details of the work" and "good ideas that can work for the sake of a common result and lasting peace."
On December 24, the President of Ukraine revealed for the first time all 20 points of the peace plan to resolve the conflict. According to the document, the agreement should be based on recognition of Ukraine's sovereignty, a non-aggression pact with Russia, and international security guarantees modeled on Article 5 of the NATO Charter.
