Ex-employee of the Russian Foreign Ministry sentenced to 12 years in prison for treason

The Moscow City Court sentenced Konovalov, an ex-employee of the Russian Foreign Ministry, to 12 years in a penal colony for passing classified information to American intelligence. This was announced on December 26 by the FSB's Public Relations Center.

"By a court decision, Konovalov was found guilty of treason and sentenced to 12 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high—security penal colony, with a fine of 100,000 rubles and restriction of liberty for a year," the statement said.
