A farewell ceremony is being held in Moscow for the officers who died on December 24 during the detention of a bomber, remaining faithful to their oath and official duty to the end. Izvestia publishes footage from the ceremony on December 26, at which thousands of metropolitan police officers came to pay tribute to their colleagues.
After the farewell ceremony, the police officers will be buried with military honors. The deceased traffic police officers were childhood friends. Lieutenant Klimanov was 24 years old, Senior Lieutenant Gorbunov was 25.
On the day of the tragedy, they were patrolling one of the districts in the south of Moscow when they noticed a suspicious person. When trying to detain the stranger, he detonated explosives. It is still unclear exactly what the killer's goal was.

Later, a source from Izvestia reported that the bomber who set off the explosion was acting at the behest of fraudsters. The interlocutor said that telephone scammers deceived the man by hacking the Gosuslugi service. He was misled by reports that he was cooperating with law enforcement agencies and disrupting an "espionage operation." The criminals instructed the man to plant an explosive device under the car.
