Significant spending on New Year's feasts, restaurants, and entertainment requires the subsequent restoration of personal or family budgets. Arina Samoilova, an expert at the X5 Club loyalty program, told Izvestia on January 10 how to set up an expense system to smooth out the financial consequences of the holidays.

"The first step is to put finances in order. To do this, it is recommended to analyze monthly expenses by category using banking applications, highlight optional expenses and eliminate unused subscriptions to platforms and services," she suggested.

After that, it is convenient to switch to structured 50/30/20 planning: 50% of income should be allocated to mandatory expenses such as housing, food and transport, 30% to leisure and optional purchases, and 20% to savings and replenishment of deposits.

For detailed control, Samoilova suggests using the envelope method, creating savings accounts in banking applications with the names of spending categories and setting limits for them. If funds remain in any category at the end of the month, they can be redistributed or deposited, increasing savings. It is also useful to arrange a personal financial challenge: to give up impulsive purchases for a month, especially under the influence of seasonal discounts, and go to the store only with a list of necessary goods.

The expert advises paying special attention to nutrition planning, which often amounts to a large expense item. Making a monthly menu and grocery list helps to reduce unplanned expenses and visit stores less often. When self-cooking, it is useful to use the same ingredients in different dishes, which makes the diet varied and economical. This approach allows you to regain control of the budget without a sharp deterioration in the quality of life.

Ekaterina Anishina, a leading accountant at the PR Partner communications agency, shared her tips on planning a budget for the New Year holidays on December 15. The expert recommended dividing all upcoming expenses into categories. She clarified that among them should be mandatory (utilities, loans, basic products), festive (gifts, treats) and January (expenses for the whole next month).
