Ryabkov said that Russia has no discomfort without dialogue with Europe.
Currently, there is a pause in Russia's contacts with some European states, but Moscow does not consider it necessary to "chase them" and beg for the resumption of dialogue. This was announced on December 26 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
"If we are talking about contacts at the highest level, at the political level, of course, we are currently having a long pause due to the fault of our opponents. But we don't feel any discomfort from this. We can't chase after them and beg them for something. It's not respectable, it's not worthy, and it's not necessary," a representative of the department told Rossiya-1 TV channel.
The diplomat noted that some contacts at different levels are continuing, but many of them are not being paid attention to and the conversations are not advertised specifically. According to him, a normal dialogue will become possible when attitudes towards Russia change in European capitals.
"We know their position. When one of them realizes that alternatives are possible and it's worth trying something else, we won't rust, we will respond, at all levels," Ryabkov added.
On October 22, Alexey Meshkov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to France, told Izvestia that Russian-French relations were at the stage of a "deep freeze" due to the lack of dialogue between the countries. According to him, the responsibility for "unblocking" the situation lies with the French side and the European Union (EU) as a whole.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on December 19 that Western countries are constantly creating an image of an enemy from Russia in order to distract attention from their own mistakes. The Head of State stressed that the talk about Russia's intention to attack Europe has no basis and is being used as part of the domestic political agenda of Western countries.
