Potanin reported a decrease in the ruble's dependence on oil
The ruble exchange rate is no longer directly related to oil prices, which indicates that Russia has ceased to be a "global gas station." This was stated on December 26 by Vladimir Potanin, head of Interros and president of Norilsk Nickel, in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV channel.
"Previously, the ruble, the ruble exchange rate, was very strongly correlated with the price of oil. <...> Now it has got rid of oil. And that's a good thing," Potanin stressed.
According to him, this was a confirmation that the country is not a "global gas station", now Russia is becoming high-tech.
