- The court commuted the sentence of a student with narcolepsy for sending psychotropic substances
In Khabarovsk, a court changed the punishment in the form of imprisonment in a high—security penal colony to a suspended sentence for student Andrei Moroztsev, who purchased a drug containing prohibited substances for narcolepsy, a rare sleep disorder. This was reported on December 26 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
"The final sentence is considered conditional with a probation period of three years. The measure of restraint in the form of detention should be canceled and released immediately," the judge said.
It is noted that the student ordered the banned drug by mail from India in 2023 on the advice of a foreign doctor. At the same time, the accused was aware of the restriction on the distribution of the drug in Russia.
"Addressing everyone, I ask you to ask yourself in your soul about who is standing in front of you. Is he a murderer, a rapist, a robber, or a terrorist? I am being judged on articles that are more difficult than all this," Moroztsev said at the last table in court.
As a result, the court sentenced the Khabarovsk resident to 3 years and 6 months of probation.
Earlier. On November 14, in Yakutsk, police detained two 19-year-old students who, according to the Interior Ministry, were trying to sell a large batch of hashish to them. The attackers were part of an organized group and served as pawnbrokers on one of the sites of the shadow segment of the Internet. The department noted that the students had received instructions from an anonymous supervisor and were heading out of town, where they were going to set up hiding places. Investigators have opened a criminal case, and the defendants have been taken into custody.
