China has successfully launched 17 sets of SatNet communications satellites into orbit from the Wenchang Cosmodrome. This was reported on December 26 by the local CCTV media.

"Our country has successfully launched 17 sets of satellites into low-orbit satellite Internet," the publication says.

The launch took place at 7:26 a.m. on December 26, Beijing time (01:26 a.m. Moscow time) using a Long March 8A launch vehicle at the Hainan Commercial Launch Site.

The satellites are designed to expand global satellite Internet coverage, increase data transmission stability, and provide Internet access in remote and hard-to-reach regions.

Earlier, on December 19, it was reported that the satellites of the United States and China entered into an "orbital battle", carrying out espionage activities against each other, in February 2022. The meeting of the satellites of the superpowers took place at an altitude of about 22,000 miles (35.4 thousand km) above the Earth.
