Rosprirodnadzor contacted the police over a video with a lion cub from a grooming salon

A resident of St. Petersburg brought a lion cub to a grooming salon for trimming claws, after which Rosprirodnadzor became interested in the situation - experts suspected that the cub had been prematurely separated from its mother. This was reported on December 25 on the Rosprirodnadzor website.

"According to external signs, the animal is no more than one and a half to two months old, and it was probably separated from its mother early," the department said.

After a video with a lion cub named Hassan appeared on social networks, the North-Western Interregional Department of Rosprirodnadzor sent an appeal to the police to identify the owner of the animal. The ministry stressed that at this age, lion cubs require specialized care and veterinary support, otherwise the risks of serious health problems increase.

It is noted that lions, as well as tigers, cougars, lynxes and a number of other species, are included in the list of animals prohibited from keeping in captivity by individuals.
