Onishchenko named the average age of birth of the first child in Russia
The average age at which women in Russia give birth to their first child is approximately 31 years old. This was announced on December 25 by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education Gennady Onishchenko.
"We have an average age of [birth of] our first child of about 31 years. We console ourselves: in Europe, in general, 32-34. But that doesn't make it any easier for us, we have to live with our own minds," he told TASS.
The academician also noted that the state and the regions are doing a lot to support large families. Dagestan, Ingushetia and Moscow are the leaders in the birth rate in the country.
