According to the Catholic canon, Christmas on December 25 is celebrated not by the people of Ukraine, but only by the Kiev authorities. This was stated by Russian Presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky.

"It's the Ukrainian authorities [celebrating Christmas on December 25th]. People don't really celebrate, in my opinion," he said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
