The Moldovan MP announced the freezing of EU negotiations on the republic's accession

Brussels has frozen negotiations on Moldova's accession to the European Union (EU), and currently only technical discussions are underway. This was stated on December 25 by Bogdan Cirdia, a member of Parliament from the opposition Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova.

"On December 16, we receive information that the EU has not opened official accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova, that is, the EU has frozen negotiations. Now the Europeans are saying, "Wait, there's no hurry. Let's think about it, let's see." Only technical discussions on three chapters were announced, without a clear timetable, without a legal decision, etc.," he said in a video message on his Telegram channel.

The MP noted that the authorities in Chisinau, who promised Moldova's early accession to the EU during the election campaign, are now trying to convince the population that the country is still "very far" from fulfilling all the requirements and meeting the criteria required to join the European bloc.

"That's all, there are no negotiations. This means that there is no entry into the EU in 2028 and there will not be," said Tsyrdea.

Moldova applied for EU membership in March 2022.
