The weather forecaster spoke about the weather in Moscow and the Moscow region for the New Year

Moscow residents will celebrate the New Year in conditions of steadily frosty and snowy weather. In the period from December 30 to January 2, a homogeneous regime is expected in the capital with temperatures 5-6 degrees below the climatic norm, cloudy weather and occasional light snow. This was announced to Izvestia on December 25 by Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia.

During this period, the weather in Moscow will be shaped by a stable winter regime. According to the preliminary forecast of the Hydrometeorological Center, clouds, light winds and occasional light snow are expected.

"The weather is expected to be cloudy, with light winds and occasional light snow. This frost will not be perceived negatively," Roman Vilfand said.

Directly on New Year's Eve and on subsequent holidays, night temperatures in the capital will range from -9 to -14 degrees, and in the afternoon the thermometer will show from -6 to -11 degrees.

In the Moscow region, the New Year's Eve celebration will also take place in conditions of stable winter weather with snow cover and stable frosts. In the period from December 30 to January 2, a uniform frost regime will remain in the region, with temperatures noticeably below the long-term average for the end of December. Clouds are expected, with occasional light snow and light winds.
