Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, responding to a question from Izvestia on December 25, called Lithuania's proposal to finance Ukraine from revenues from the transit of Belarusian fertilizers the height of absurdity.

On December 21, Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas offered assistance to Ukraine from the proceeds from the transit of Belarusian fertilizers. According to him, if pressure is exerted on Lithuania, the authorities of the republic may consider the option of transit of Belarusian fertilizers through the port of Klaipeda, one of the largest transport hubs in the country.
