Likhachev noted the need of the nuclear industry for comprehensive education
Comprehensive interdisciplinary education, designed for several decades ahead, is a necessary aspect of the existence of the nuclear industry. This was announced on December 25 by the head of the Rosatom state corporation Alexey Likhachev, the Izvestia correspondent reports.
He stressed that the dynamic development of the industry requires the regular appearance of new specialists and specialties that are not yet included in the classifier of professions.
"The whole point now is interdisciplinarity. Not just a chemist, but a chemist who knows digital chemistry. A nuclear physicist who is well versed, for example, in international affairs, a nuclear physicist is a diplomat who is ready to involve new countries in the nuclear club. Not just a person involved in logistics, <...> but also aware of how new technologies, including nuclear ones, can be applied in maritime traffic, how to provide remote ports and transport hubs with local energy," Likhachev explained.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on August 22 that interest in engineering professions in Russia is increasing, and early career guidance is needed to train personnel in the nuclear industry. The Russian leader also noted that the training of specialized personnel is one of the most important areas in all industries, including the nuclear industry.
