On the eve of the New Year, analysts studied data on the average ceiling height in ready-made apartments in different regions of Russia. The study is timed to prepare for the winter holiday, when homeowners need to correctly understand its maximum allowable height when choosing a Christmas tree, Sberbank's Domclick service said.

It turned out that the highest ceilings are in apartments in Moscow and St. Petersburg: for the capital, this figure averages 2.93 m, for St. Petersburg — 2.82 m.

Experts explained this by the fact that in these cities there are many houses of pre-revolutionary, early Soviet and modern buildings on the secondary market, which are characterized by more "tall" and spacious apartments. In addition, the figure is higher in Moscow due to a reduction in the number of Khrushchev apartments and an increase in the share of premium real estate with high ceilings.

The Stavropol (2.79 m) and Krasnodar (2.78 m) territories and the Moscow Region (2.74 m) also made it to the top five of the rating.

The average ceiling height in the country is 2.7 m. At the same time, some of the lowest average values were recorded in the Perm Region (2.62 m), as well as Bashkiria and the Krasnoyarsk Territory (2.63 m each).

Analysts have also found that the highest ceilings are most often found in pre-revolutionary buildings: in 77% of objects, ceilings exceed 3 m.

In houses built from 1931 to 1955, the proportion of buildings with ceilings above 3.5 m does not exceed 3%. The least number of such apartments appeared in houses built from 1976 to 1991 — only 0.2%.

Higher ceilings make the property itself more expensive. According to experts, if in Russia the median cost per square meter in apartments with ceilings from 2.7 to 3 m is 136 thousand rubles, then in apartments with ceiling heights from 3 to 3.5 m, the price per square meter is already more than 200 thousand rubles.
