The morning after a wild party with alcohol is often accompanied by unpleasant sensations in the form of a hangover, as alcohol triggers intoxication processes in the body. Evgenia Melnikova, a gastroenterologist at SM Clinic, told Izvestia on December 31 about which products will help alleviate this condition.

She noted that if the concentration of ethanol in the blood remains within 2-2.5%, you can cope with the consequences on your own.

To alleviate the condition, it is important to help the body recover. One of the key points is fluid replenishment. Drinking plenty helps to reduce the dehydration that occurs under the influence of alcohol.

Drinks with electrolytes, such as coconut water or sports isotonics, work in the same direction: they restore the salt balance to normal and can reduce the severity of hangover symptoms.

"It is useful to include foods rich in antioxidants in the diet. Fresh berries, citrus fruits, and green vegetables like spinach and cabbage support cell function and reduce inflammation. Light broths will also be a good option: chicken or vegetable soups help to cope with headaches, weakness and at the same time replenish nutrients," Melnikova said.

But caffeine, according to her, is better to limit during this period — despite the apparent cheerfulness, it can increase dehydration. Herbal teas or decaffeinated drinks will have a much milder effect on the body.

It is also important to remember about proper rest — sleep remains one of the main tools of recovery.

At the same time, the specialist emphasized that none of these methods is a "magic pill." They can only alleviate the symptoms, but they do not change the main rule: the most reliable remedy for a severe hangover is moderate and responsible alcohol consumption.

Earlier, on October 10, nutritionist Elena Solomatina warned about the dangers of citrus fruits for some people. The specialist noted that it is important to remember the golden rule of medicine.: The toxicity of any substance, even the most useful one, is determined by its dose.
