The fifth ice crossing opened in the Khabarovsk Territory
An ice crossing connecting Nikolaevsk-on-Amur and the village of Podgornoye has been launched in the Khabarovsk Territory. This was announced by the regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia on Thursday, December 25.
The length of the ice road through Amur is 5.5 km. The load capacity is currently 5 tons, and it will be increased later, but not more than 20 tons.
The ferry is open around the clock. The subsequent increase in cargo capacity will depend on weather conditions and the thickness of the ice sheet, IA AmurMedia writes.
There are currently five ice crossings in the region. Two are located in the Ayano-Maysky district, one each in Khabarovsk, Okhotsk district and Nikolaevsky district.
In the Okhotsk district, the Okhotsk – Novoe Ustye crossing was opened the day before, on December 24. The length of the road is 49 m, cars weighing up to 20 tons can drive on the ice of the Okhota River.
