Patrushev summed up the results of the year's work in the field of MSW management
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev on Thursday, December 25, summed up the results of the work for the year in the field of municipal solid waste management (MSW) at a meeting in the "incident" format.
During the event, it was noted that as part of the implementation of the national project "Environmental Well-being" and the federal project "Closed-loop Economy", construction and modernization of the MSW industry infrastructure are continuing throughout the country.
Thus, the need for specialized equipment, containers and container sites has been formed for each region, and procurement plans have been approved. In 2025 alone, more than 62 thousand containers were purchased, and 12 thousand sites were created for them. 1.5 thousand garbage trucks were purchased, a significant part of which was due to the preferential leasing instrument, which was launched this year with the support of the government of the Russian Federation.
"During the year, we managed to qualitatively adjust the control tools in the field of waste management. The Federal MSW accounting system is now automatically updated with information from GLONASS sensors. In addition, all regions are connected to the photo and video recording system, as well as to the automatic transmission of weight control data. This information, in turn, will necessarily be taken into account when forming fair tariffs. On the instructions of the Incident, the FAS is preparing an appropriate resolution," Patrushev stressed.
According to him, Russian regions should increase the pace of construction of municipal solid waste management facilities. This year, 24 such facilities have been commissioned, while according to the plan, 164 more should be built in two years. For this, the relevant regulatory framework has been prepared at the federal level and financial support mechanisms have been proposed, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation added.
It is specified that among the priorities for the near future is the control of timely waste disposal during the New Year holidays. Federal and regional headquarters will monitor the situation on the ground.
In February, Patrushev said that the pace of construction of municipal solid waste treatment facilities should increase. He noted that the implementation of the federal project "Closed-loop Economy" has been launched since 2025. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, last year, MSW facilities with a total capacity of more than 4 million tons were put into circulation.
