To avoid severe overeating at the festive table, it is very important not to limit yourself too much to food during the day, said endocrinologist and nutritionist Anastasia Tarasco in the Izvestia podcast "Let's figure it out."

"Starving yourself before a festive table is the worst thing you can do. Because you will most likely sit down at the table with a high sense of hunger and overeat very much," the doctor noted.

In her opinion, it would be optimal to postpone the "hardest" part of the festive dinner to an earlier time.

"I would recommend having breakfast, then a light lunch — something protein, vegetable. And make a festive dinner early — at eight or nine o'clock. And to approach the New Year's Eve with light snacks," said the guest of the podcast.

At the same time, a slight overeating on a festive night is normal if it is moderate, the doctor noted. To avoid painful sensations or discomfort, it is important to understand your body well. To do this, you need to practice recognizing feelings of hunger and satiety in advance.

To calculate your allowance correctly, you can use the principle of a flexible plate, filling half with fruits and herbs, and the other half with treats that you want to try. It is advisable to apply it no more than once every one to two hours, Anastasia Tarasco recommended.

Earlier, nutritionist Sofya Kovanova told how to get back in shape faster after the holidays — according to her, the sooner a person returns to a normal diet, the easier it will be for him to get rid of extra pounds.
