A captured soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Sergei Lutsyuk, called on Ukrainian militants to surrender to Russian captivity. The Russian Ministry of Defense publishes the footage on December 25.

"I want to tell our Ukrainian soldiers. Guys, don't be afraid to surrender to the Russian Armed Forces. They treat it normally. Get along, don't shoot back to the end. If you shoot back, you will be killed accordingly. But at least you'll be alive," Lutsyuk said.

He also said that they were brought to Dimitrov in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) with a partner to perform a "secret" task. They gave me a walkie-talkie, showed me the direction, and ordered me to dig in near the destroyed bridge. They covered themselves with anti-drone cloaks.

Lutsyuk noted that troops were moving along the road and bridge, and he and his partner had to listen to all movements and report on passing vehicles and conversations by radio. They were allowed to open fire only if someone gets closer than 10 m to their position.

"We didn't get out of this trench day or night. We only got out if Baba Yaga threw food on top of us," the prisoner said.

They were forbidden to reveal themselves. The militants were in position for more than a month and a half, until one night the shelling began. Lutsyuk counted more than 30 explosions. Demoralized and disoriented, he decided to leave the position.

"I came out in a kind of stupor. I decided for myself that I didn't want to fight!. I'm going home. To relatives I haven't seen in nine years. I didn't give a damn. I got out and walked straight ahead," the prisoner said.

So he moved towards the Russian positions, hiding carefully in bushes and ditches, until he was spotted at dawn and captured by soldiers of the Center group of forces. They fed him, warmed him up, and gave him medicine.

The commander of the Kaira strike drone detachment of the Unmanned Systems Forces (UAVs) of the 39th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Center group said on December 20 that Russian UAV operators were distributing leaflets from the air calling for surrender over the encircled AFU militants in Dimitrov.
