The Pentagon's report on the capabilities of the Chinese army distorts the real development of China's Armed Forces and inflates the rhetoric of the "Chinese threat." This was reported on December 24 by the Global Times newspaper.

"The Pentagon report contains a lot of false and speculative information aimed at creating an image of a threat from China," the newspaper quoted Zhang Junshe, an expert on Chinese military affairs, as saying.

The publication notes that the Pentagon's report does not take into account the actual strengthening of the country's defense capability and serves as an excuse for building up American military potential. The expert claims that the presented material distorts data on the number of intercontinental ballistic missiles and arms control negotiations.

It is clarified that representatives of the Chinese Ministry of Defense stressed the need to stop such publications and called on the United States to abandon false narratives. They noted that China continues to adhere to a defensive policy and actively fulfills international security obligations.

Earlier, on December 22, it was reported that the Pentagon believes that China could allegedly deploy missiles on the border with Mongolia. The report said China had probably deployed more than 100 solid-fuel DF-31 intercontinental ballistic missiles in silos near China's border with Mongolia, the latest in a series of such facilities.
