Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulatory letter to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on the occasion of Christmas and New Year celebrations. This was announced on December 25 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic Ivan Gil Pinto in the Telegram channel.

In addition, Putin expressed solidarity with the Venezuelan people.
Earlier, on December 18, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow was calling for restraint around the aggravation of the situation in Venezuela in order to avoid an unpredictable development of the situation. He also called the escalation of tension in the region potentially dangerous.
On the same day, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted the continuous and purposeful escalation of tension around Venezuela earlier in the day. It was argued that the escalation of the conflict between the United States and Venezuela has unpredictable consequences for the Western Hemisphere.
