Damage from illegal logging of Christmas trees exceeded 2.4 million rubles in Primorye

In Primorsky Krai, the damage caused by illegal cutting of Christmas trees exceeded 2.4 million rubles per week. Violations were detected in Chuguevsky and Spassky districts.

The raids were carried out from December 15 to December 19. According to PrimaMedia news agency, control over the forest fund has been strengthened in Primorye on the eve of the New Year holidays, when demand for coniferous trees traditionally increases.

Materials on the revealed facts of illegal logging have been transferred to law enforcement agencies. Violators face fines and confiscation of illegally harvested timber. In some cases, criminal liability is possible.
