As a result of an armed attack on couriers transporting jewelry in Paris, five packages of jewelry were stolen, including a sapphire worth 150,000 euros. This was reported on 24 by the newspaper Le Figaro, citing sources in the Paris prosecutor's office.
It is noted that the attack took place on Monday morning, December 22, in the tenth arrondissement of Paris. An armed criminal was waiting for couriers, hiding behind a van near a jewelry store. After the delivery men parked their car, he attacked them, threatening them with a pistol, and struck one of them on the head.
Having taken jewelry worth 160 thousand euros, including a precious sapphire, the criminal fled the crime scene on a scooter. The wounded courier was taken to the hospital.
The Prosecutor's office announced the start of an investigation, which has not yet yielded results.
The day before, the newspaper Le Parisien reported that the management of the Louvre Museum decided to install bars on the windows after a recent robbery. Louvre director Laurence de Car said that the safety bars on the windows will be installed before Christmas.
