Russian President Vladimir Putin called for the regions to be more actively involved in the development of new solutions to Russia's national agenda. He made the corresponding statement on December 24 at the plenary session of the Federation Council.

"The government needs to involve the regions more actively, as they say, more closely in developing new solutions to the national agenda. And, of course, we need to establish control over their implementation," he said.
