During the New Year holidays, the condition of the skin is affected by sleep disorders, festive meals and unfavorable environmental conditions. As a result, it may look less fresh, lose moisture, and react with puffiness and hypersensitivity. On January 2, Natalia Moiseenko, cosmetologist, founder and leading teacher of the Cosmetology training center, told Izvestia about how to help the skin recover from holiday stress.

"Of course, the skin does not require aggressive "detoxification." After the festive period, its main task is to restore barrier functions and support natural regeneration processes, which are physiologically slowed down in conditions of cold and stress," the expert emphasized.

According to her, delicate cleansing products with a neutral pH level that do not violate the lipid layer are considered the best option.

Also, the second important step is hydration, Moiseenko added. Even if the feeling of dryness is mild, the skin often suffers from latent dehydration due to heating and cold air. In this case, products with hyaluronic acid, glycerin and ceramides are recommended, which help restore water balance and reduce the feeling of tightness. Before long walks in the cold, experts also advise to additionally protect the skin of the face and hands with dense creams that create a barrier from wind and cold.

After the holidays, the cosmetologist recommended paying special attention to maintaining the skin barrier. During this period, the skin often becomes more reactive, which is manifested by redness and discomfort. It is necessary to choose care with soothing ingredients such as panthenol, niacinamide and herbal extracts, and the use of potentially irritating active ingredients should be temporarily reduced.

"The lifestyle deserves special attention. Adequate sleep, adequate water intake and a moderate diet directly affect the condition of the skin. It is these factors that support the internal mechanisms of recovery — through the lymphatic system and cellular renewal processes," Moiseenko said.

She concluded that the "winter detox" is not a one—time procedure, but a structured care strategy. A physiological and calm approach helps the skin recover from holiday stress and adapt to seasonal conditions without unnecessary stress and aggressive interventions.

On December 5, Medical Xpress magazine reported that the New Year provides an excellent opportunity to restart the diet and return to healthy eating habits after the holidays. The leftovers of the festive meal do not have to be thrown away immediately, they can be consumed gradually and in small portions. Nutritionist Andrea Delgado noted that it is necessary to gradually return to previous healthier habits or develop new ones. Start including vegetables and fruits in most meals.
