VTB will increase the amount of payments to the winners of the 99th St. Petersburg Pushkin - Petersburg Marathon four times — the prize fund will amount to more than 8 million rubles.

According to the bank's press service, athletes with the best results in the men's and women's marathon distances will receive financial support. 5 million rubles will be allocated for achieving a new record.

"By participating in the organization of such landmark events as the St. Petersburg Marathon, we help to develop a high-quality sports environment and discover new talents in athletics. I am confident that the record—breaking prize fund of the Pushkin Petersburg Marathon will enhance the status of the competition, add even more drive to it and become an additional incentive for professional athletes and running enthusiasts who are already starting preparations for the start," said Denis Bortnikov, Deputy President and Chairman of the Management Board of VTB.

Dmitry Pavlov, President of the St. Petersburg Athletics Federation, added that the organizers had set "an ambitious goal - to bring the Russian record home." "The Pushkin — Petersburg circuit is one of the fastest in Europe, and it is realistic to show a time exceeding the current result," he stressed.

In 2026, one of the oldest running marathons in Europe will be held on September 6. The St. Petersburg Marathon has been held since 1923. The traditional distances are 5, 10, 30 and 42 km. The athletes will start in Pushkin and finish at the Palace Square in St. Petersburg.
