Reuters reported on the US Coast Guard's plans to seize a Venezuelan tanker.

The U.S. Coast Guard may try to seize a third Bella 1 oil tanker bound for Venezuela, but is waiting for reinforcements. This was reported on December 23 by the Reuters news agency, citing an American official and an informed source.

"The U.S. Coast Guard is awaiting the arrival of additional forces before attempting to board and seize an oil tanker linked to Venezuela, which it has been monitoring since Sunday," the publication said.

It is noted that the tanker's crew has so far refused to allow Coast guard personnel on board. Special maritime threat response teams can be deployed to land on Bella 1, including using a helicopter.
