Starting from January 1, 2026, new regions in Russia will switch to the unified standards of the compulsory medical insurance system (CHI). This was announced on December 24 by the Chairman of the Federal Antimonopoly Committee Ilya Balanin.

"Starting from January 1, the compulsory medical insurance system will operate in the all-Russian format in all new regions. The territorial funds of the new regions will monitor the quality of medical care and protect the rights of citizens. To date, almost all residents of the four regions have received compulsory medical insurance policies," Balanin said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
