The presence and actions of every foreign citizen in Russia must be checked by the authorities, otherwise the migrant should be deported. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting on migration on December 23.

He visited Sheremetyevo Airport, where an experiment is underway to collect biometric data of all migrants at the border.

"The stay of every migrant in our country should be absolutely transparent, and his every step should be visible to administrative and law enforcement agencies," Medvedev stressed. A video recording of the meeting was posted on his page on the VKontakte social network.

Earlier that day, law enforcement officers detained the organizer and 20 members of a group that illegally legalized more than 2,000 foreigners from Eastern countries in Russia and earned 500 million rubles. According to investigators, the group's main customer base consisted of migrants from the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East, who used Russia for transit to European countries.
