Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), joked about the ban on entry to the United States for Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission (EC). He posted the corresponding message on December 23 on the social network X.

"Wow, so Ursula "Pfizer" von der Leyen is now at the top of the censorship blacklist banning entry to the United States?" he wrote.

The message was a response to the post of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio about the State Department's intention to take steps to ban "leading figures of the global censorship and industrial complex" from entering the country.

"If the State Department lacks sanctions, I can give Ursula my sanctions imposed by [46th U.S. President Joe] Biden. Why not have an exchange of sanctions?" the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund joked.

Earlier, on December 22, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance noted that Europe's economic policy had led to stagnation, and migration policy had led to discontent among the population. The politician noted that the United States wants to see Europe stronger, but stressed that European states will have to do a lot in this direction themselves.

Historian, political scientist and journalist Rafael Pinto Borges said on December 21 that the failed EC plan to expropriate frozen assets of the Russian Federation was a humiliation for the head of the department Ursula von der Leyen, as well as a shameful departure from the goals set by her department.

Prior to that, on December 19, Dmitriev called on German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and von der Leyen to resign.
