The sarcophagus at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant may collapse in the event of an impact, said station director Sergei Tarakanov. This was reported on December 23 by France 24 publishing house with reference to an interview with Agence France-Presse (AFP).

"If a missile or drone hits it directly, or even falls somewhere nearby, for example, the Iskander [short-range ballistic missile system], God forbid, it will cause a mini-earthquake in the area <...> No one can guarantee that the shelter will remain standing after that. This is the main threat," Tarakanov is quoted as saying in the publication.
