The United States has deployed aircraft, troops and equipment to the Caribbean region, which expands the country's ability to conduct potential military operations in the region. This was reported on December 23 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

"The United States this week deployed a large number of special-purpose aircraft and several cargo planes with troops and equipment to the Caribbean region, which gives the United States additional opportunities for potential military operations in the region," the publication says.

It is noted that in recent days, US President Donald Trump has increased pressure on Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and ordered the blockade of all tankers entering and leaving the country's waters.

Earlier, on December 21, it was reported that the United States had intercepted another oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela. It was clarified that we are talking about the Bella 1 tanker under the Panamanian flag, which was under US sanctions and was heading to Venezuela. The next day, Trump announced the US intention to keep the oil from intercepted Venezuelan tankers.
