A new center for walrus was built in Noyabrsk

A new recreational and family complex for walrus swimming has appeared in Noyabrsk (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug). It will open its doors to visitors in January 2026, said Mayor Alexei Romanov during a live broadcast.

"This is still a working option. We have not yet decided on the final name, but we have temporarily chosen a working name — "Thermometer," said the mayor.

The facility is located on the shore of Lake Hanto. In addition to the water treatment area, recreation areas and a coffee shop will be set up there. The official name is still under discussion.

According to the <url> news agency, the project is being implemented as part of the events of the Year of Health announced in Yamal.

Earlier it was reported that the authorities of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District plan to eliminate more than 100 thousand square meters of emergency housing in 2026. New houses for displaced people are already being built in the region.
