There are currently no plans to block the Telegram messenger in Russia. This was announced on December 23 by the head of the IT Committee of the State Duma, Sergei Boyarsky, at a press conference at the Moscow International Exhibition Center "Russia Today".

According to Boyarsky, Telegram can be considered not only a messenger, but also a social network with channels of authors who are popular with Russians.

"It would be wrong to turn off people's ability to receive news from the source they are used to," Boyarsky said.
