Minsk will independently select targets for the Russian Oreshnik complex installed on the territory of Belarus. This was stated on December 23 by the Minister of Defense of the Republic Viktor Khrenin in an interview with CGTN TV channel.

"According to the statements of the President of Belarus, Minsk will determine the goals independently, and Moscow will help with the operation of the hypersonic missile," the interview published by the TV channel says.

At the same time, it has not yet been disclosed in which regions of the country the complex will be located. It is specified that, according to the statement of the Minister of Defense, the complex will be on combat duty before the end of December.

On December 18, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced that the Russian Oreshnik missile system had entered service in Belarus. He stressed that the first positions have already been equipped for the complex, and from that moment on he will be on combat duty.

On December 19, Khrenin added that the Oreshnik missile system was preparing to go on combat duty in Belarus. He also noted that there are no plans to increase the grouping of troops of Russia and Belarus.
