Jackie Chan took part in the Olympic Torch relay

Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan carried the Olympic torch through the ruins of Pompeii during a relay race on December 22 ahead of the 2026 Olympic Games to be held in Italy. This was reported by NBC.

Thus, for the actor it became the third participation in the Olympic torch relay. He previously carried the torch at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 and 2022.

The TV channel also reported that Italian footballers Fabio Cannavaro and Ciro Ferrara will take over the baton. They will carry the torch through their hometown of Naples, where the relay will be suspended for Christmas.

Earlier, the Olympic Flame of the XXV 2026 Winter Games in Italy was handed over to the organizers of the competition at a ceremony held at Athens' historic white marble Panathinaikos Stadium on December 4. The flame for the games was lit at the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Olympia in Greece on November 26. The Olympics will be held from February 6 to 22, 2026 and will be the 25th in the history of these sports competitions.
