- Umerov and Gnatov presented Zelensky with a report on negotiations with the US delegation
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Andrei Gnatov presented to Ukrainian Leader Vladimir Zelensky a report on negotiations with the US delegation. The politician announced this on December 23 in his Telegram channel.
Zelensky called the negotiations with the American delegation productive and noted that there are currently "prepared drafts" of a number of documents.
"In particular, there are documents on security guarantees for Ukraine, on reconstruction and on the basic framework for ending the conflict," the President of Ukraine wrote.
In addition, he expressed hope for continued constructive work.
On the same day, American leader Donald Trump said that negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine were in full swing. He also stressed once again that the United States no longer spends money on the supply of military equipment to Ukraine.
Prior to that, on December 22, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he did not know what U.S. Vice President Jay Dee Vance meant when he spoke of a "breakthrough" by the United States in negotiations to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation noted that the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict is hardly possible to engage in public space.
Following consultations between Moscow and Washington in Miami, Vance announced a breakthrough in negotiations on Ukraine. He also noted that some of the issues discussed are deliberately getting into the press, as the parties are trying to use information pressure as one of the tools of diplomacy.
