Russian wolves may fall under Western sanctions after statements by CNN and Finnish experts about predator attacks on Lapland deer. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, wrote about this on December 23 in her Telegram channel.

"The logic is clear: whoever Santa doesn't bring a gift to should clearly understand that the Russians are to blame, even if they are wolves," Zakharova wrote.

The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry admitted that the accusations against the wolves could be "Western revenge for the piggies."

CNN reported that Finland blames Russian wolves for the increase in the number of reindeer kills on Finnish territory. According to the Finnish Reindeer Herders Association, wolves have killed about 1950 deer this year, which is 70% more than last year.
