NYT: a visitor to a restaurant in Moscow City told about a meeting with Assad
The family of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who moved to Russia after the change of power in his country, leads a luxurious life in Moscow. This was reported on December 23 by The New York Times, referring to relatives of the politician, family friends and ex-officials of the country.
A Syrian immigrant living in the Russian capital told the media that he once managed to meet Bashar al-Assad for dinner at the Sixty restaurant on the 62nd floor of the Federation Tower in Moscow City.
He added that this institution is often visited by "members of the Russian political elite and foreign celebrities." According to the source, Asad was one of the VIP guests of the restaurant.
On December 19, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever joked that he needed to go to his country house in St. Petersburg. According to him, actor Gerard Depardieu lives next door to him, and Assad lives across the street. At the end of the joke, De Wever added that he might even be able to become mayor of the city.
