A car safety testing center called Geely Safety Center has opened in China. It became the largest in the world and set five Guinness World Records, the automaker said in a statement received by Izvestia on December 23. The center covers an area of 45,000 square meters, with initial investments in the project exceeding 2 billion yuan.

Thus, the Geely Safety Center is the largest automotive safety laboratory (81.9 thousand square meters), has the longest indoor crash test track (293.39 m) and the largest (28.5 thousand square meters) wind tunnel with adjustable height and simulation of various climatic conditions, including snow, rain, solar radiation and wind speeds up to 250 km/h.

Also, the world's largest crash test area has become at an arbitrary collision angle from 0 to 180° (12.7 thousand square meters). The laboratory provides for the possibility of conducting the largest number of different tests (27 types).

Geely noted that in addition to crash tests, checking the level of pedestrian protection and other tests, special attention is paid to cybersecurity and assessing the impact of implemented technologies on human health. For example, the Golden Nose department specializes in the detection of harmful substances and unpleasant odors.

Earlier, on December 15, Geely announced in Russia a new top-end version of its Monjaro crossover. The Flagship SE (Special Edition) features an exclusive green color and 20-inch wheels with thin spokes, as well as adjustable shock absorbers and other equipment.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
