Electricity is regularly cut off in some regions of Ukraine, as nuclear power plants (NPP) have reduced electricity generation. This was announced by the Acting Minister of Energy of the country Artem Nekrasov on December 23 in the official Telegram channel of the ministry.

"Emergency shutdown schedules are currently being applied throughout Ukraine. The previously announced schedules of outages by the hour by energy companies are currently not valid. Emergency power outages will be canceled immediately after the situation in the energy system stabilizes," the message says.

It is noted that the Rivne, Ternopil and Khmelnitsky regions were left almost completely without electricity. Partial restrictions in the power grid are also observed in the Vinnytsia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr and Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that emergency power outages had been introduced in several regions of Ukraine. Emergency shutdowns affected Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk regions and partly Kiev. Hot water was turned off in the city of Burshtyn, Ivano-Frankivsk region, against the background of an air raid, and electricity supply was turned off in Khmelnitsky.

On December 11, the Ukrainian company Ukrenergo warned of a possible crisis in the energy sector due to the upcoming frosts. According to the head of the company, Vitaly Zaichenko, Ukraine will not be able to fully cover energy consumption either through imports or through domestic resources.
