- The grain harvest of 2025 may become the most significant in the recent history of Russia
A record grain harvest is expected in Russia this year, which should amount to about 137 million tons in pure form. High rates are also expected for grain and legumes, fruit and berry crops, rapeseed and soybeans. Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, said this in an interview with Izvestia on December 23.
"This year, Russian farmers have once again given us a reason to be proud. Even in spite of all the weather disasters that we have encountered. In a number of regions, there were recurrent frosts, drought, heavy rains and early snow. Nevertheless, this year's grain harvest is expected to reach 137 million tons in net weight, and it is one of the most significant in recent history. If it hadn't been for such difficult weather, the harvest would have been several million tons more," he said.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that such results had been achieved despite the drought and heavy rains in some regions. At the same time, exports will remain at the level of 55 million tons, which confirms Russia's status as a reliable supplier.
Patrushev paid special attention to the successes in the import substitution of seeds. The country is already approaching 70% self-sufficiency.
Patrushev, during the discussion of the preliminary results of the harvesting campaign on December 2, also said that the government retains comprehensive support for the agro-industrial complex. Thus, more than 600 billion rubles were allocated for the implementation of sectoral state programs in 2025, of which over 100 billion were allocated for direct subsidies to farmers. A comparable amount of direct subsidies is planned for next year, the Deputy Prime Minister concluded.
