In the Moscow region, two swans may die from the cold
Swans may die from the cold in Khotkov near Moscow, the city administration is still inactive. This was announced on December 23 by a source of Izvestia.
It is noted that two swans remain on the river Thief — a white one and a gray one. With the onset of frost, birds risk simply freezing.
According to experts, the gray swan is a teenager who was born later than usual. Because of this, he was unable to leave on time for the winter and stayed in the region.
The white swan, presumably its mother, does not leave the river and stays close to the chick, despite the cold snap.
Local residents have already contacted the city administration. The message was sent to the Department of Ecology, but no concrete measures have been taken to save the swans yet. The fate of the birds remains in question.
Earlier, on November 19, it was reported that scientists had identified strains of cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa in Moscow reservoirs synthesizing toxic compounds dangerous to the liver. The massive proliferation of these microorganisms — the so—called water bloom - leads to the accumulation of toxins in reservoirs, which can pose a threat to animal and human health.
