In the second and third readings, the State Duma adopted a bill to increase fines to 500 thousand rubles for imposing additional goods and services on consumers. The relevant document was posted on December 23 in the database of draft laws of the State Duma.

"The draft federal law On Amendments to Articles 3.5 and 14.8 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation <...> has been developed in order to ensure proper administrative and legal protection, observance, prevention and prevention of violations of consumer rights when ordering or purchasing certain goods (works, services) without mandatory conditions of the order or purchase together additional goods (works, services) with them for a fee, as well as the establishment of proportionate liability for officials, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs in case they violate consumer rights," the explanatory note to the law says.

Fines for imposing services on officials and individual entrepreneurs will range from 50 to 150 thousand rubles, and for legal entities — from 200 to 500 thousand rubles. Currently, fines for such violations range from 2 to 4 thousand rubles for officials and from 20 to 40 thousand rubles for legal entities.
