The attack aircraft of the territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attempted a counterattack in the Krasnopolsky district of the Sumy region, but it failed. This was reported on December 23 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.

"The enemy conducted one counterattack in the Krasnopolsky district using armored vehicles, had no success, retreated to their original positions with losses," the RIA Novosti source said.

For the counterattack, the Ukrainian Armed Forces deployed two assault groups of the 119th separate air defense brigade, which moved on armored combat vehicles. They were also reinforced by air defense specialists of the 96th Anti-aircraft Missile Brigade and signalmen.
