A new version of the Red Book of Animals was released in Transbaikalia
A new version of the Red Book of Animals was released in the Trans-Baikal Territory. The updated edition was presented by the Regional Ministry of Natural Resources.
The work on the book was carried out for five years. It contains information about 170 species of animals, which is 35 less than in the previous issue. At the same time, some new species were included in the publication for the first time, writes ChitaMedia news agency.
As explained in the department, the changes are due to recent data on the number and habitat of some animals, the exclusion of a number of species from the Red List of the Russian Federation, as well as adjustments to taxonomic data.
Experts from the Institute of Natural Resources, Ecology and Cryology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Chita, the Daursky Nature Reserve, as well as the Institutes of Animal Systematics and Ecology, General and Experimental Biology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk and Ulan-Ude participated in the creation of the book.
Earlier it was reported that the first carbon-neutral Red Book was presented in Murmansk. In the process of printing it, the publishing house compensated for carbon dioxide emissions by participating in environmental projects.
