Azerbaijan continues to participate in all CIS formats, and bilateral relations between Moscow and Baku continue to develop. This was announced on December 22 by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.

"Azerbaijan participates and continues to participate in all CIS formats. Of course, our bilateral relations continue to develop," Peskov said in an interview with Rossiya 1 TV channel.

According to him, the Russian government appreciates the results of the bilateral meeting of the presidents that took place in Dushanbe.

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev in Tajikistan on October 9. This meeting between the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan was the first in a long time. Putin and Aliev met briefly in September in China at the SCO summit, but did not communicate fully. The next day, on October 10, Putin said that there had been no crisis in interstate relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.

Before that, on October 7, Peskov pointed out the importance of the dynamics of Russia's bilateral relations with Azerbaijan. He also confirmed that Aliev had congratulated Putin on his birthday by phone.
